Of Earth & Silva is a design & concept-led studio founded by Fern Hockley Da Silva Telles — a designer, maker and yoga teacher, whose work is rooted in calm, craft, and connection.

Blending over a decade of experience in interior architecture with further studies in jewellery design and yoga teaching, Fern brings together the worlds of creativity and well-being in a way that feels quietly intentional. The studio’s offerings span thoughtfully crafted spaces, sculptural jewellery & fine objects — all designed to encourage presence, stillness, and a deeper connection to self.

Our Studio

About Us.

A Search for Stillness ...

Th e studio was born from a personal journey, through a fast-paced world of architectural design and a growing desire to create work that, not only supports but inspires calm, presence and deeper human connection.

After a decade within the design industry, experiences of burnout and creative disconnection led us to find methods of grounding and moments of presence: Yoga, meditation, breathwork, journalling, immersions in nature and hands-on making in creative mediums.

It was when our past design experience began to be inspired and enhanced by these practices that Of Earth & Silva was born -- and it is these grounding practices that continue to shape the philosophy of the studio today.

Studio Message

The Voice of Our Founder

In a world that often asks too much of us, where time disappears as we are immersed within worlds of ‘busy-ness’, absorbed into a society of impatience, comparison, treadmills ....

I realised within myself a need for rest -- but not just a one-off ‘break’, I needed my day to day life to offer space to pause, moments of presence, for a chance to turn the attention back to myself, my body and my mind.

For real, deep, regular and prolonged, sustainable rest.

And why can’t design be for this exact purpose?

My intention with Of Earth & Silva is to provide others with a space, an object, a ‘wearable comfort’ in a piece of jewellery - Something real and tangible that will hold them, physically & emotionally, engage with their soul and allow them to feel stillness and presence.

Studio Ethos

Craft, for Well-Being

Across both ‘Of Earth’ & ‘Of Silva’, the studio shares one common belief: Design should not be surface-level, or transitory - It should be purposeful in supporting well-being, by holding, inspiring, encouraging and providing space for pause - For ‘sustained calm’.

We are a human-led design practice, with our work rooted in the philosophy of Phenomenology: The idea that ...

Alongside our human focus, we look to nature for .... appreciating how it is often the natural world around us that provides much of our organic, day to day grounding and moments of presence.

Layers of authenticity and humanity through a selection of natural materials and the inclusion of artisanal skill and unique craftsmanship.

Whether creating interiors, fine objects or jewellery pieces, our designs are always grounded in materiality, atmosphere, craftsmanship, and sensory experience - Encouraging slower living, stillness and meaningful connections.

Every design is shaped by Fern’s belief that beauty is most powerful when it also brings peace — when it helps us slow down, breathe, and return to ourselves. Whether it’s a handmade ring, a carefully curated space, or a collaborative wellness workshop, Of Earth & Silva exists to support people — creatives, seekers, and sensitive souls — in finding rest, rhythm, and reconnection in a world that often asks too much.
