Shipping Policy

1. Overview

This Shipping Policy explains how orders placed through Of Earth & Silva are processed and delivered.

All pieces are designed, produced, packaged and dispatched from the United Kingdom by Fern Hockley-Telles, trading as Studio Silva Concepts.

As a small independent studio producing handmade objects in limited quantities, each order is handled with care and attention.

2. Production and Processing Time

Many pieces available through the online shop are made to order or produced in small batches. As a result, orders require a short production period before dispatch, to ensure each object is carefully crafted and finished for you. 

For items purchased during a product release, the typical production time-frame is:

10–14 working days before dispatch

This time-frame allows for:

  • fabrication and finishing

  • quality checking

  • careful packaging

During particularly busy release periods, production times may occasionally vary slightly. Customers will receive confirmation once their order has been dispatched.

For custom or commissioned pieces arranged via direct enquiry, production timelines will be agreed individually with the client prior to confirming the order.

3. Shipping Destinations

We currently ship to customers within the following regions:

- United Kingdom

- Selected European destinations, including:

  • Ireland

  • France

  • Germany

  • Netherlands

  • Belgium

  • Denmark

  • Sweden

  • Spain

  • Italy

  • Portugal

If you are located outside these regions and are interested in purchasing a piece, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate your request where possible.

4. Shipping Methods

Orders are shipped using reliable tracked delivery services.

Shipping providers may vary depending on the destination and value of the item. All shipments will be carefully packaged to ensure the safe delivery of delicate or handcrafted pieces.

Tracking information will be provided once your order has been dispatched where available.

5. Estimated Delivery Times

Delivery time-frames begin after dispatch, not from the date the order is placed.

Estimated delivery times are:

United Kingdom
Typically 1–3 working days after dispatch.

Europe (selected destinations)
Typically 5–10 working days after dispatch.

Please note that these time-frames are estimates only and may vary depending on postal services, customs processing, and seasonal demand.

6. Shipping Costs

Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on:

  • the destination country

  • item size and weight

  • shipping service required

All shipping costs will be clearly displayed before completing your purchase.

7. Additional Charges: International Shipping, Import VAT and Customs

Orders shipped from the United Kingdom to countries within the European Union may be subject to the following: 

  • import VAT

  • customs taxes

  • handling fees

These charges are applied by the destination country, they are determined by local customs authorities and they are the responsibility of the customer.

Unfortunately, Of Earth & Silva has no control over these charges and cannot predict the exact amount that may be applied.

Customers are encouraged to check their country’s import policies before placing an order.

8. Refused Shipments Due to Customs Charges

If a shipment is refused by the recipient due to unpaid import duties, taxes, or customs fees, and the parcel is returned to us, we reserve the right to deduct from any refund:

  • the original shipping costs

  • return shipping charges

  • any customs or administrative fees incurred

Any remaining balance will be refunded to the original payment method once the returned parcel has been received.

9. Delivery Delays

While we aim to ensure timely delivery, Of Earth & Silva cannot be held responsible for delays caused by circumstances outside our control, including:

  • postal service disruptions

  • customs processing delays

  • extreme weather conditions

  • international transport issues

10. Incorrect Addresses

Please ensure your shipping address is accurate at the time of purchase.

We cannot be responsible for orders delivered to incorrectly supplied addresses.

If you notice an error in your shipping information, please contact us as soon as possible and we will do our best to assist before the order is dispatched.

If you need to make changes to your shipping address after the item has been dispatched, this will need to be dealt with by contacting the delivery service directly - We cannot take responsibility for this once it has left our studio. 

11. Lost or Damaged Parcels

If your order arrives damaged or appears to be lost in transit, please contact us within 7 days of the expected delivery date.

We may request photographs of the packaging and item in order to assist with an investigation with the shipping provider.

Where appropriate, we will work with the courier to determine the best possible resolution.
